neogothic

Nineteenth-century medieval revival

Neogothic describes architecture and design that revives medieval Gothic elements—pointed arches, ribbed vaults, flying buttresses, ornate tracery.

The style flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries as a romantic reaction against classical forms: The university's neogothic buildings give the campus an Oxford feel.

Also spelled neo-Gothic.

Sometimes called Gothic Revival.
