natural logs
Base-e logarithms
Natural logs are logarithms with base *e* (approximately 2.718), written as ln(x) in mathematics.
They arise naturally in calculus and appear throughout physics, economics, and engineering wherever continuous growth or decay occurs: The natural log of e is 1.
The term distinguishes them from common logarithms (base 10).
