u-substitution
Change of variables
U-substitution is a technique in calculus for simplifying integrals by replacing a complicated expression with a single variable.
You identify part of the integrand as *u*, find its derivative *du*, and rewrite the integral in simpler terms: Use u-substitution with u equals x squared plus one.
It's the reverse of the chain rule for differentiation.
