telegraph key
Dot-dash transmitter
A telegraph key is the switch or lever used to send Morse code signals over telegraph lines.
The operator presses the key to complete an electrical circuit, producing the dots and dashes that form coded messages.
Though telegraph systems are obsolete, the key remains familiar to amateur radio operators and appears in period films showing urgent wartime communications.
