mud flap

Tire spray blocker

A mud flap is a flexible panel hanging behind a vehicle's wheel to catch mud, water, and debris kicked up by the tire.

Trucks and semis often have large mud flaps, sometimes decorated with chrome silhouettes or logos.

Also called a splash guard.

The truck's mud flaps were caked with road grime.
