mouflon

Ancestor of flocks

A mouflon is a wild sheep native to mountainous regions of Corsica, Sardinia, and western Asia, considered an ancestor of domestic sheep.

Mouflons are reddish-brown with a lighter saddle patch, and rams have large curved horns.

They have been introduced to other parts of Europe as game animals.

Also spelled moufflon.
