moot court
Mock legal proceeding
Moot court is a simulated court proceeding where law students argue hypothetical cases before mock judges.
The exercise develops oral advocacy skills and legal reasoning.
Cases are "moot" in the sense of being academic rather than actual controversies: She dominated in moot court but struggled with real clients.
