humoral

Of body fluids

Humoral relates to bodily fluids, especially in historical medical theory.

The humoral system held that health depended on balance among four humors: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile.

Though the theory is obsolete, humoral persists in immunology: humoral immunity involves antibodies circulating in blood and other fluids, as opposed to cell-mediated immunity.
