nystagmus
Involuntary eye oscillation
Nystagmus is involuntary, rapid, repetitive movement of the eyes—typically side to side, but sometimes up and down or circular.
It can be present from birth or result from neurological conditions, inner ear disorders, or intoxication.
Doctors test for nystagmus during neurological exams and field sobriety tests.
