dilated pupil
Widened eye opening
A dilated pupil is one that has expanded, allowing more light into the eye.
Pupils dilate naturally in dim conditions, but also in response to arousal, fear, certain drugs, or medical eye exams: The doctor used drops to dilate my pupils.
Unusually dilated pupils can indicate drug use, head injury, or neurological problems.
