Jinx

Mischievous pet name

A jinx is a person or thing that brings bad luck, or a state of persistent misfortune: There's a jinx on this project.

To jinx something is to bring bad luck to it, often by speaking too confidently about future success: Don't jinx it by saying we've already won.

The superstition holds that acknowledging good fortune invites its reversal.
