mineralisation

Becoming rock slowly

Mineralisation is the British spelling of mineralization—the process by which organic matter transforms into mineral or inite.

In biology, this includes bones and teeth forming from calcium deposits, or soft tissue turning to stone over geological time.

In medicine, it describes calcium accumulating in body tissues.

The term also applies to ore deposits forming in rock: The region shows evidence of gold mineralisation.
