military widow
Fallen hero's spouse
A military widow is a woman whose spouse died while serving in the armed forces, or as a result of military service.
The term often implies eligibility for survivor benefits and carries connotations of sacrifice: Military widows receive a monthly stipend from the government.
The masculine equivalent, military widower, is rarely used.
