meta-analysis
Pooled research synthesis
A meta-analysis is a statistical technique that combines results from multiple independent studies on the same question to produce a more reliable overall conclusion.
By pooling data, researchers can detect patterns or effects that individual studies might miss due to small sample sizes: A meta-analysis of 47 trials found the treatment effective.
The term also refers to a paper presenting such an analysis.
