megacycles
Old frequency units
Megacycles is an older unit of frequency equal to one million cycles per second, now called megahertz.
The term was standard in electronics and radio through the mid-20th century: The station broadcasts at 1.5 megacycles.
Technical and regulatory bodies shifted to megahertz in the 1960s, making megacycles largely obsolete except in vintage contexts.
