MIPS

Computing power metric

MIPS is a reduced instruction set computer (RISC) architecture developed in the 1980s, widely used in embedded systems, routers, gaming consoles, and historically in workstations.

The PlayStation and Nintendo 64 used MIPS processors.

The name originally stood for "Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages," though it's now treated simply as a brand name. (Lowercase mips is a unit of processor speed.)
