megacycle
Radio frequency unit
Megacycle is an older term for megahertz—one million cycles per second, used to measure radio frequencies and processor speeds.
The term was standard through the mid-20th century before hertz became the preferred unit: The station broadcasts at 1.2 megacycles.
Now largely replaced by megahertz in technical contexts.
