kilocycles
Old frequency unit
Kilocycles is an older term for kilohertz—a unit of frequency equal to one thousand cycles per second.
The term was standard in radio and electronics through the mid-20th century: The station broadcasts at 1200 kilocycles.
Modern usage has largely replaced it with kilohertz, though kilocycles persists in vintage equipment manuals and historical contexts.
