media-bias

Journalism's political lean

Media bias is the perceived or actual slant in news coverage toward particular political viewpoints, ideologies, or interests.

The term appears most often in accusations that outlets favor one side: Fox News viewers complain about media bias in mainstream outlets.

Bias may manifest in story selection, framing, word choice, or which sources get quoted.

Claims of media bias often reveal as much about the accuser's perspective as about the coverage itself.
