Decoration's hanging fabric
A medal ribbon is the strip of colored fabric from which a medal hangs, or a shorter version worn alone on military or formal dress to represent the medal without displaying it.
Each ribbon's colors and patterns identify specific awards: His dress uniform displayed three rows of medal ribbons above the pocket.
