marginalisation

Pushing to edges

Marginalisation is the process of pushing people or groups to the edges of society, where they have less power, fewer opportunities, and diminished voice.

The marginalised lack access to resources and decision-making that others take for granted: the marginalisation of indigenous communities, economic marginalisation of rural areas.

The word implies systemic exclusion rather than individual neglect.
