reavers
Those who pillage
Reavers are raiders or plunderers—those who seize goods by force.
The word is archaic in everyday speech but survives in fantasy and science fiction, where it typically describes bands of violent marauders: The reavers swept through the village, taking everything of value.
In the television series *Firefly*, Reavers are feral, cannibalistic space pirates who terrorize the frontier.
