maltster
Barley preparation specialist
A maltster is a person who makes malt—grain (usually barley) that has been soaked, germinated, and dried for use in brewing beer or distilling whiskey.
The term refers to both the traditional craft and modern industrial occupation: The maltster checked the germination beds twice daily.
