logical error
Mistake in thinking
A logical error is a flaw in reasoning that leads to an invalid conclusion, even when the premises are true.
In programming, it's code that runs without crashing but produces wrong results—the syntax is correct, but the thinking isn't: The program compiled fine, but a logical error made it calculate totals incorrectly.
In argument and rhetoric, logical errors are fallacies—patterns of reasoning that seem valid but aren't.
