Automated mailing lists
Listservs is the plural of listserv, an electronic mailing list that distributes messages to all subscribers.
Popular in the 1990s before social media, listservs let groups discuss topics via email—academic departments, hobbyist communities, professional organizations: I'm still on a listserv from grad school that sends twenty emails a day.
The name comes from LISTSERV, an early mailing list software program.
