leylines
Mystical terrestrial alignments
Ley lines are hypothetical alignments of ancient sites—standing stones, churches, burial mounds—believed by some to channel mystical energy across the landscape.
The concept emerged in 1920s England and remains popular in New Age spirituality and fantasy fiction.
No scientific evidence supports the existence of such energy paths; archaeologists regard apparent alignments as coincidental.
The novel's magic system drew power from ley lines crisscrossing Britain.
