lens mount
Optic attachment point
A lens mount is the interface that attaches a camera lens to a camera body.
The mount determines which lenses are compatible with which cameras—Canon, Nikon, and Sony each use proprietary mounts.
The term covers both the physical mechanism (usually a bayonet-style twist-lock) and the electrical contacts that allow communication between lens and body.
Adapters can bridge incompatible mounts, though often with limitations.
