legal brief
Attorney's written argument
A legal brief is a written document submitted to a court presenting arguments for one side of a case.
It summarizes facts, cites relevant law, and makes the case for a particular outcome.
Despite the name, briefs are often lengthy—sometimes hundreds of pages.
Lawyers file briefs before hearings and submit briefs on appeal.
