lateral transfer
Same-level job change
Lateral transfer is a job move to a position at the same level—similar pay, similar responsibilities, different role or department.
Unlike a promotion, it's sideways rather than up: She took a lateral transfer to marketing.
In biology, lateral transfer (or horizontal gene transfer) describes genes passing between organisms outside of reproduction, as when bacteria share antibiotic resistance.
