landslips

Slopes giving way

Landslips are masses of rock, earth, or debris that slide down a slope—the British term for what Americans call landslides.

Heavy rain, earthquakes, or erosion can trigger landslips along hillsides, cliffs, or embankments: The railway was blocked by landslips after the storm.

The singular landslip refers to either the event or the displaced material itself.
