kitchen island
Freestanding food workspace
A kitchen island is a freestanding cabinet or counter positioned in the center of a kitchen, accessible from all sides.
Islands typically provide extra workspace, storage, and seating: We eat breakfast at the kitchen island.
In open floor plans, the island often serves as the boundary between kitchen and living areas.
