jeté
Dancer's thrown leap
A jeté is a ballet leap in which a dancer springs from one foot and lands on the other, with one leg extended.
The word is French for "thrown." A grand jeté is the dramatic split-legged leap seen in classical ballet: She soared across the stage in a grand jeté.
