isthmian

Between two landmasses

Isthmian means relating to or situated on an isthmus—a narrow strip of land connecting two larger landmasses.

The word appears most often in reference to the Isthmus of Panama: the Isthmian Canal (an older name for the Panama Canal), Isthmian affairs.

In classical contexts, it refers to the Isthmus of Corinth in ancient Greece: the Isthmian Games were athletic competitions held there.
