inebriation
State of intoxication
Inebriation is the state of being drunk.
The word is more formal than drunkenness and appears in legal, medical, and literary contexts: The officer noted signs of inebriation.
It can extend to any intoxicated state: inebriation from power, a kind of verbal inebriation.
