indirection
Not straight to it
Indirection is the quality of not going straight to a point or goal, whether in speech, action, or method.
Someone who uses indirection avoids stating things plainly, preferring hints, circumlocution, or roundabout approaches: Through indirection, she learned what her colleagues really thought of the proposal.
In computing, indirection refers to accessing data through a pointer or reference rather than directly, adding a layer between the request and the value.
