rewarming

Restoring lost heat

Rewarming is the process of warming something again, especially raising body temperature after hypothermia or during medical procedures.

In clinical settings, rewarming may be passive (blankets, warm environment) or active (heated fluids, warming devices): The patient required careful rewarming after prolonged cold exposure.

The term also applies simply to heating leftovers: Rewarming the soup took just a few minutes.
