hybrid warfare
Blended combat tactics
Hybrid warfare combines conventional military force with irregular tactics, cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, economic pressure, and political subversion.
The term emerged in the early 2000s to describe conflicts that blur the line between war and peace, state and non-state actors, military and civilian domains: Russia's annexation of Crimea exemplified hybrid warfare.
The strategy exploits ambiguity, making attribution and response difficult.
