humble-bragging

Disguised self-promotion

Humble-bragging is boasting disguised as self-deprecation or complaint.

The humble-bragger mentions an accomplishment or advantage while pretending to be modest or put-upon: So exhausted from all these job offers, I hate how I can eat anything and not gain weight.

The strategy often backfires—humble-brags tend to irritate more than straightforward boasts.
