overworked
Too many hours
Overworked describes someone exhausted from too much work or too many demands: The overworked nurses barely had time to eat.
It also applies to things used so heavily they've lost effectiveness—an overworked excuse, an overworked metaphor.
The word can modify both people and concepts that have been pushed past their useful limits.
