high-rise flats
Urban residential skyscrapers
High-rise flats are apartments in tall residential buildings, typically ten or more stories.
The term is primarily British—Americans would say high-rise apartments or simply high-rises.
These buildings became symbols of postwar urban planning, often associated with public housing projects: The council demolished the old high-rise flats and built low-density housing.
