Larvae causing welts
A harvest mite is a tiny reddish larval mite that infests grass and vegetation in late summer and autumn.
The larvae burrow into the skin of humans and animals, causing intense itching and small red welts.
Also called chigger or red bug in American English: I picked up harvest mites walking through the tall grass.
