hardcourt

Concrete playing area

A hardcourt is a tennis or basketball court with a rigid surface, typically asphalt or concrete, as opposed to clay, grass, or wooden floors.

In tennis, hardcourt surfaces produce a faster, more consistent bounce than clay and are easier to maintain than grass.

Most recreational and public tennis courts are hardcourts.

The term also applies to outdoor basketball courts with paved surfaces, often found in parks and playgrounds.
