dropshot
Barely clears net
A dropshot is a shot in tennis, badminton, or similar racket sports that barely clears the net and falls sharply, landing close to it on the opponent's side.
The goal is to catch an opponent off guard, especially one positioned deep in the court: She won the point with a perfect dropshot.
In fishing, dropshot refers to a rigging technique where the weight hangs below the hook.
