Sprint toward basket
A fastbreak is a rapid offensive push in basketball, moving the ball upcourt before the defense can set up.
Teams get fastbreak opportunities after steals, rebounds, or quick inbounds passes: They scored twelve points on fastbreaks in the first quarter.
The term applies similarly in hockey and other sports.
