half court line
Basketball's middle stripe
The half court line is the line dividing a basketball court into two equal halves, marking the boundary between offensive and defensive territories.
Once the offensive team crosses the half court line, they cannot bring the ball back across it without committing a backcourt violation.
Also called the midcourt line or center line.
