half-dollars
Fifty-cent pieces
Half-dollars are fifty-cent coins in United States currency, worth half of one dollar.
Once common in circulation, they've become increasingly rare in everyday transactions since the late twentieth century: I found some old half-dollars in my grandfather's coin collection.
The Kennedy half-dollar, minted since 1964, remains the current design.
