grounding exercises
Present-moment techniques
Grounding exercises are techniques used to anchor attention in the present moment, typically during anxiety, panic, or dissociation.
They work by engaging the senses or body to interrupt overwhelming thoughts: counting five things you can see, holding ice, focusing on breath.
