grammatical category
Part of speech
A grammatical category is a class of words or forms that share a particular feature—like tense, number, gender, or case.
Verbs have categories of tense (past, present, future) and aspect.
Nouns have categories of number (singular, plural) and, in some languages, grammatical gender.
Categories organize how words inflect and combine: English has lost most of its case categories.
