grafter
One who cheats
A grafter is someone who works hard, especially at manual or tedious labor—British slang for a diligent worker: He's a proper grafter, never takes a day off.
In American usage, grafter more often means someone who engages in graft—political corruption or petty swindles.
The two meanings are essentially opposite: one earns honestly through effort, the other dishonestly through schemes.
