governeth
Exercises sovereign authority
Governeth is an archaic third-person singular form of govern, meaning to rule, control, or direct.
This -eth ending was standard in Early Modern English and appears frequently in the King James Bible and Shakespeare: He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down.
Modern English uses governs instead, but governeth persists in religious readings, historical reenactments, and deliberately antiquated prose.
